Books about Deserts AND Desserts!

If your child has difficulty knowing the difference between when it’s spelled “desert” or when it’s spelled “dessert,” reading a book or two about each word might help. (Another trick that might help is: dessert has 2 T's because everyone wants 2 helpings of dessert.) Even if they do know the difference, it’s still fun to read about subjects that are so different, yet spelled and sound so alike!

Books with no words (or almost no words!)

Did you know that wordless or books with almost no words can be just as valuable to read to children as books with lots of words in them? The wonderful part of reading wordless books is that you and your child can make up the words to go along with the story yourselves.  As you turn to each new page, talk together about what you see, it’s a great way to stretch their imagination!
