Encyclopedia Horrifica By Joshua Gee
J 001.9 Gee
When you first encounter this book, you see a hologram
of a vampire on the cover. Part one features nightmares
such as Dracula, creepy sea creatures, aliens, and werewolves.
Especially good is the feature on Dracula, comparing the
Hollywood version of the story with the real life Prince Vlad III
of Wallachia. Part 2 features ghosts, spirits, and phantoms.
This portion of the book includes a question/answer with a
real ghost hunter. Part 3 features an interview with a secret
psychic spy, an investigation of superstitions, ESP, and more.
Part 4 features zombies, mummies, pixies, and the Grim Reaper.
You can also meet the gruesome grandmother Frances Glessner Lee,
who created miniature dollhouse murders for crime solvers to learn
from. Very cool book!
Unexplained By Judy Allen

The book begins with hauntings. The Winchester
Mystery House, the Belmez faces that appeared
on the floor of a family’s house in Spain, castle haunts,
and ghosts on the road or at sea. Next the book examines
psychics, levitation, auras and more. In chapter 3,
superstitions and symbols are examined. Next disappearances
are featured with possible reasons. The Bermuda Triangle,
one of the most famous, possibly might be explained by
methane gases from ancient forests that lie undersea or a
fallen meteorite might be mixing up navigational instruments.
Famous missing people like Amelia Earhart and D. B. Cooper
are investigated. My favorite chapter are historical mysteries,
which features the famous Stonehenge and Holy Grail.
The remainder of the book investigates lost lands (like Atlantis),
mysterious cures, crop circles, UFOs, Fine illustrations and photos.

First of all, cryptids are legendary animals. You have probably heard of the Loch Ness Monster, Giant Squids, and Bigfoot. This book investigates whether or notsome of these mysterious creatures exist or have existed. A large amount of information is given on Bigfoot and the Loch Ness monster. Much shorter coverage on creatures such as chupachabras, Shunka Warak’in, and Onza. The book closes with an interview with author and cryptozoologist Loren Coleman and a cryptidictionary of mysterious creatures. Not comprehensive, but brief treatment of subjects.
